2. Background & Challenges
Silicon steel, often referred to as the "pearl on the crown of the steel industry," demands extreme precision in dimensional accuracy and edge quality. To expand production of high-grade silicon steel for NEV motors and high-efficiency transformers, the client initiated a greenfield CBL project in Handan.
However, trimming silicon steel at high speeds presents unique challenges:
· Hard Material & Spring back: Silicon steel’s high hardness and elasticity make it difficult to achieve clean cuts without burrs.
· Ultra-Thin Gauges: At thicknesses down to 0.18mm, maintaining edge straightness and preventing micro-cracks is critical.
· High-Speed Stability: Running at 300 m/min generates significant dynamic forces, risking vibration, width deviation, and excessive tool wear.
The client required a side trimmer capable of delivering burr-free edges and micron-level width accuracy under these demanding conditions.
3. Xiangyang Jiade Machinery Solution

· Cut Face Geometry: The shear plane verticality reached 90° ± 1°, significantly improving the stacking factor of the laminations.

Thanks to the rigid design and active control systems, width deviation was minimized even at maximum line speed.
· Width Tolerance: Stabilized within ± 0.05 mm, meeting the stringent requirements for high-precision motor stator and rotor stamping.
· Edge Straightness: Effectively corrected "sickle bend" (camber), ensuring tight coil winding and smooth downstream processing.
4.3 Extended Tool Life & Productivity
· Wear Resistance: Blades treated with specialized alloys and coatings achieved a 20% increase in grinding intervals compared to previous solutions.
