Jiade Machinery: Precise Machining Within Microns to Break Technical Barriers

Founded in 2014, Jiade Machinery specializes in manufacturing core spare parts for petroleum and metallurgical industries, including working rolls, pump bearings and constant velocity joints. The company focuses on import substitution, with working roll as its flagship product. As the key wear-resistant component of rolling mills, working rolls endure heavy extrusion and abrasion during operation. Most domestic metallurgical enterprises rely on imported rolls with long delivery cycles and high costs, leaving huge room for import substitution.

Qian Jun, Chief Engineer of Jiade Machinery, stated that to seize the import substitution market, the company must break the precision processing technical barriers monopolized by overseas manufacturers. Slender rolls appear to be simple steel bars, yet their production integrates material science and ultra-precision machining. Thinner and longer rolls generate greater vibration during processing, making dimensional accuracy and roundness control far more challenging.

To solve the precision bottleneck of slender rolls, the R&D team independently developed an encrypted multi-point support processing technology after repeated trials, stably controlling the machining tolerance within 0.01mm. Qian Jun commented: “Our self-developed slender working rolls in two specifications (Φ12mm×L950mm and Φ16mm×L1540mm) reach the domestic leading level in machining accuracy and service life.”

After realizing domestic breakthroughs on core rolling mill spare parts, Jiade Machinery also completed independent R&D and mass production of complete metallurgical finishing equipment, including Tension Leveler, multi-roll straightening machine, Side edge trimmer, scrap chopper and roller coater.

On September 11, a 23-roll Tension Leveling machine was under assembly in Jiade’s production workshop, where workers installed batches of roller cassettes.

“This equipment is benchmarked against imported Engel machines from Germany,” Qian Jun introduced. Ultra-thin metal foil of only 0.02mm thickness (1/3 of ordinary paper) carries invisible camber and wave defects, and leveling is an essential pre-process for steel strip deep processing. This unit can improve strip flatness from 30Ⅰ to 3Ⅰ, reaching internationally advanced performance standards.

Leveraging dual technical strengths in precision rolling rolls and complete finishing lines, Jiade Machinery keeps advancing in import substitution. Evolving from a single rolling roll component factory, it has grown into a national high-tech enterprise and provincial gazelle enterprise integrating R&D and manufacturing of metal strip finishing lines, rolling mill core spare parts and special Metallurgical Equipment. Its products are supplied to major domestic steel groups including Baowu, Angang and WISCO Southern Engineering, and exported to the US, Turkey, Vietnam, India, Russia and other overseas markets, with annual sales exceeding 100 million RMB.
